Our Mission
The Rescue House’s mission is to rescue and find loving homes for unwanted, abandoned, homeless and disadvantaged cats. Many of the cats and kittens we have been able to rescue and find great homes for, were abandoned and left to fend for themselves outside. The cats we are not able to help find homes for are the cats that are not comfortable with people. Unfortunately, these cats have not had the experience of being loved and cared for while living with people. They do not have a comfortable bed, fresh water, or regular food. San Diego County is home to an estimated 300,000-500,000 homeless cats. They have to fend for themselves and it is a tough life. We are increasingly committed to helping make their lives easier and more comfortable, by providing food for them.
Some of our special Rescue House volunteers commit to going from location to location to feed an estimated 350 cats that are unowned and not used to people, up to seven days per week. They provide food and fuel using their own financial resources and small donations from friends who support their service. These volunteers use an estimated 1042 pounds of dry cat kibble and 266 pounds of wet food each week to help care for these cats! The average monthly cost for this food is $5,600. The Rescue House is devoted to taking an active role to support our volunteers that are struggling to feed and bring comfort to homeless cats. In addition, our volunteers, along with many other organizations in San Diego County, actively participate in altering (Trap/Neuter/Spay & Return (TNR)) these cats. To continue our efforts, we need your help. Thank you on their behalf.
